Darryl G. Hart To Be President of The Mencken Society
Darryl G. Hart, distinguished associate professor of history at Hillsdale College (Hillsdale, MI) will succeed Robert Brugger as President of the Mencken Society. Dr Hart will be installed on September 9, 2017, during the Mencken Day 2017 celebration held at the Maryland Historical Society’s France Hall.

This is the Mencken Family Grave Site as of January 22, 2016. On Sunday, January 31, Oleg Panczenko and four attendees, one a boy of 5 (not pictured), assembled at the parking lot of the Loudon Park Funeral home to remember Mr Mencken. Mencken Graveside Memorial 2016 Update
The snowfall is over but the clean-up continues. The questions for us are (1) has Loudon Park cleared the paths of the cemetery?; (2) how much snow remains around the Mencken family gravesite?; and (3) is there room to park vehicles? Please check here Friday (01-29) evening.

Mencken Graveside Memorial 2016 Rescheduled
The snow is falling here in Baltimore as predicted. We will assume that the weathermen’s predictions for the amount of snow to fall will be correct and so cancel the memorial scheduled for this coming Sunday (01-24) The Memorial is rescheduled for the following Sunday, January 31, 2016, at 2:00 PM.
