...That even if the well-educated Obama gets himself elected, we can look forward to at least an occasional novelty to grace the field to which this forum is dedicated. This evening during the debate, he accused McCain of implying that he (Obama) was "green behind the ears." This, an inadvertent (I think) blending of "greenhorn" and "wet behind the ears," was to me one of the highlights of the debate. An amusing, even delightful image. I have noticed before an occasional lapse by the Democratic candidate in which he will mangle some cliche. Compared to the current reigning champ, he would be a more refined and subtle (and not anywhere near as prolific) vendor of entertaining variations on political pablum. Still, I have hope that if he gets into office, we can expect something other than an unrelieved diet of the drearily correct.
